“I don't need easy, I just need possible.” - Her story is most notably known as one of the biggest comeback stories of our era, Bethany Hamilton has become synonymous with inspiration. At the age of 13 as a rising surf star, Bethany lost her left arm to a 14-foot tiger shark, which seemed to end her dream career. However, one month after the attack, Bethany returned to surfing and within two years had won her first national surfing title. At 17 years old, she realized her dream of surfing professionally, and she is still an active surf competitor to this day. Bethany has been able to touch millions of people with her faith message, charitable efforts, and overall spirit. You might know her from her film soul surfer, her new documentary unstoppable, or from her many interviews including one with Oprah. In this interview, we talk about how Bethany fosters this immense belief in herself, how she handles fear, and what inspired her to keep pursuing her purpose no matter what. Some Questions I ask: (02:00) What does being unstoppable mean to you? (03:35) How do you manage to remain positive no matter what? (08:37) How do you foster this immense belief in yourself? (13:02) What do you do mentally to be able to surf such big waves (how do you handle fear?)? (21:43) Where do you get your inspiration?
